Trichoplax adhaerens—does that ring a bell? In French, it translates to “sticky carpet” or “small, hairy, sticky plate”… This astonishing creature, which intrigues biologists, is considered the simplest multicellular animal. With biologist Andrea Pasini from Aix-Marseille University and actor Guillaume Mika, the theater stage becomes the setting for a scientific experiment: the Trichoplax take center stage, the aquarium becomes a (theatrical) playground, and laboratory tools blend in with stage props. An impromptu scientific exploration of an enigmatic species.
