The Themis Project - Reaching Audiences

Since the start of the 2024 academic year, La Scène de recherche has been coordinating the Themis project—one of the six components of the national research program on Cultural and Creative Industries (PEPR ICCARE), led by the CNRS. This strategic program aims to support the transformation of the cultural and creative industries by helping them adapt to digital, economic, and social changes. It promotes close collaboration between the humanities, social sciences, and computer science, with a focus on the co-construction, co-creation, and co-promotion of knowledge and practices.

The Themis project aims to rethink the issue of cultural democratization. Based on the observation that profound changes—whether cyclical or structural—are taking place in the cultural practices of the French people, Themis serves as a hub for reflection and experimentation on ways to reach and engage audiences in all their diversity.
Whether the focus is on the drivers of cultural offerings, communication and public relations, pricing, or cultural outreach, Themis aims to share experiences and provide analyses to improve our understanding of the transformation of cultural audiences. These analyses, co-produced with the cultural and creative industries, will not only shed light on their own practices but also provide insights to guide future cultural policies.
