ADA: Beyond the Image
Véronique Caye
Two actors and an electronic choir explore the shortcomings of facial recognition through video, music, and “Python” computer code.
Why do machines struggle to recognize certain faces? What is artificial intelligence that doesn’t recognize us? Ada, a computer engineer, engages with an AI to correct these biases. But can we fix what we cannot see?
Her quest takes us on a journey from the pixels of our era to the first handprints on cave walls. A dizzying whirl of algorithms in which our own illusions echo.
The 7:30 p.m. performance will be followed by a discussion with the artistic team and Michèle Gouiffès, a computer science researcher at LISN (Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Digital Sciences).
