Tribute to Beethoven
For this third installment of our music series, we welcome an international quartet that is equally at home performing contemporary and classical music. The New Cretan Quartet performs Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 13 in B-flat major, Op. 130 alongside Beethoveniana, Bruno Mantovani’s String Quartet No. 6 . This encounter between two compositional styles creates a sensitive dialogue between tradition and innovation. The evening will serve as a preview of the Festum Pi festival, which brings together scientists and musicians every summer on the island of Crete.
In the first part of the concert, Bruno Mantovani will engage in a dialogue with mathematician Cédric Villani, and they will exchange perspectives on the connections between musical composition and scientific research.
