Guillaume Mika, an artist at the intersection of science and theater, returns to the Scène de recherche with an underground, sound-based adventure. After sensing strange vibrations, two speleologists and a bioacoustician venture deep into a cave. But instead of the bats they expected, an immense, shifting, elusive sound reverberates through the space. Suddenly, their ladder comes loose… They must get organized, live together, and come to terms with this echo-laden phenomenon. Sharing food, sure… but what about the frequencies? Inspired by Bernie Krause’s research, Cataphonie creates a sonic survival story that is as strange as it is entertaining.
