Peritopia #5

Prune Brenas / Baptiste Coulmont et Blandine Rinkel

A Satellite's Beat – Prune Brenas, artist-in-residence at the Institute of Space Astrophysics (IAS) in Orsay.

During a residency at the IAS, visual artist Prune Brenas turned her telescope on the astrophysicists. At the intersection of art and laboratory inquiry, her research dissects the science of the cosmos and the interplay between techniques, materials, and bodies. By recreating the tense movements from the ground to the heavens, this unidentified artistic object questions the ways we view the universe.

Stage Name – Baptiste Coulmont, sociologist and professor at ENS Paris-Saclay, accompanied by Blandine Rinkel, writer and artist.

First names are revealing; they possess a familiarity or poetry beneath which the social world is woven. To explore the silences of onomastics, sociologist Baptiste Coulmont has invited author and musician Blandine Rinkel. Together, they will combine concert, (auto)fiction, and objectification for a performance open to all surnames.
